Eastern VA. No such thing as too many Magnums. | Deere used to offer it as a kit. We had it on every single 30-55 series Deere we ever had. Here's a picture of it on a 4630 which would be the same as the 4040. We just returned it to the side of the SCV. Never had an issue in 30 years. We used them for any and every type of hydrualic driven motor. It not only prevented backpressure, but it allowed the (fans, spinners, pumps etc) to "coast" to a stop instead of a dead stop when you put the handle in neutral. You could argue that moving to float would do the same thing, but a couple "whoopsies" and you break couplers or keys between the hyd motors and whatever they're turning. We have it on all the Magnum tractors too. I really don't see why it isn't standard on every tractor. We never had one that we didn't need it on.
