The hydraulic system will run cooler if you return the oil to a ported filter cover. Any oil returned to a SCV or the Load Control Adjustment Plug dumps directly into the sump. Then the tranmission pump sends the oil to charge the main high pressure pump. The only oil that goes to through the hydraulic oil cooler is what is bypassed from the tranmission pump. When you run the return to a ported oil filter cover it sends the oil to the oil cooler and also helps with charging the main hydraulic pump. I have ported oil filter cover returns on all of my 20 and 40 series tractors that run orbit motors and I also have the return oil on my loader go into the ported filter cover.
