Subject: Re: Axial flow combine

Nebraska
I have rebuilt axial flow from head to toe. Replaced standard rotor with specialty, cross flow fan, and all new augers. The 60 and 80 series are some of the most efficient and economical machines ever made. They are easy to work on and the parts are relatively inexpensive (in relation to John Deere). My only advice would be to buy the augers from Case IH and not shoup - they are much higher quality and worth the money in my opinion. They will last a few thousand hours if you spend the time and money to replace all the bearings, etc. With the price of a 1688 (around 40k) or 21-2388 you can have a nice combine that is well built without all the plastic etc. The only disadvantage compared the newer series is the cabs and the joy stick.
