no excuse needed, a 3/4 ton pickup will compact more than a ordinary Cat...Now a D11 with 18 inch shoes would be a different ombray if you could keep it on top...Rubber tires for compaction, scrapers always for ponds, the material needs to by pliable, roll between fingers and it stays together...If its too dry add water, too wet go over it with a green disc until it won't go in the ground no more.

I know, will quit the advisory business soon.
