German Valley, IL | we pasteurize to feed to the calves ... the pasteurization process kills all the bugs so even kills yonies ... much better for the calves than milk replacer ... we take the highest SCC cows and use for the pasteurizer that also brings our SCC down even lower so we can stay in the highest premium possible for our milk .... we have ran in the 110,000 - 120,000 SCC range for years now we can keep it under 100,000 most months and that is another $.25/100wt more money for us , thats another $32,000 a year in our bank pays for the pasteurizer in 3-4 months just on premiums not to mention saving money on this over priced milk relacer plus much healthier calves on whole milk | |
