Subject: Smartrax improved in Nitro

Great Southern, Western Australia
Just in case anybody else is fighting with their Smartrax in a Nitro 4000 series this may be of some help to somebody. We have had no end of trouble with our 4365 with Smartrax longbox behaving erratically on-line. After trying various software and settings solutions, I decided to investigate the steering postion sensor (SPS) more closely. While I cannot say for sure that the problem is solved, the short bit of testing I have done was so much better than before. A variety of things could have been contributing to our problems. The SPS itself was not properly centered over the kingpin. The grub screws were not completely tight that secure the slotted arm to the SPS shaft. BUt most likely I think was that the bolt that sits inside the slotted arm to activate the SPS was 5/16 when the installation manual clearly says it should be 3/8. The SPS is a very accurate/touchy device, and I think this extra movement the arm could make before activating the SPS was causing a lot of issues.

But I wont know for sure until I have run it for a day or two.
