Morris, IL | If its anything like our D17 Diesel you need to spray it with ether. Ours will never start without ether, could be a 80 degree day and it would crank and crank. Along with fuel filter do the sediment bowl, its right above the fuel shut off lever. I'd replace it with a new one being your restoring it. Off topic, i would really like to see some pictures our your D17 when done, we have one that dad would really like to restore. Its a diesel just like it that needs and overhaul first, its a 57 or 59. Don't know what series. Not as much sentimental valve but it was dads first tractor, bought well used. You got a rare tractor, the diesel D17 are very rare, or at least thats what i'm told.
