Subject: Re: Plant with JD SF1?

I agree with other posters than SF1 with an integrated valve on a JD 8x30 tractor with Front Wheel Assist can work reasonably well for planting 30" row corn. We have done this for three years. The first two years we used an iTC globe and last spring switched to a 3000 globe. In my opinion the 3000 globe provided a more tolerable guess row than the iTC globe. But you need to be ready to drop a planter marker if you are going to stop planting for 10 minutes or more. The concern I would have about using this GPS setup with a JD 4630 would be that the the older tractor may have some free play in the steering and does not have FWA...... I don't have any experience with autosteer on a non-FWA tractor, but feel this could be a negative factor.
