Peter Pakosh worked for Massey when he was younger and as I recall the story, they told him he would start at the very bottom and take a cut in pay when he wanted to transfer to the engineering department.  His main interest at the time was hydraulic drives.  He got fed up with the run around so he quit and started his own company.
