Just wondering what you guys are putting down for starter fertilizer, and fertilizer rates on winter wheat this year? Looking for new ideas! South western Ontario area

Thanks Wally

The right amount of N in the fall will likely vary a lot depending on fall weather in various locations around N America. I would think though that you are similar to Southern MI, so here is what I have done in the past:

20 to 25 # of actual N and P & K depending on the soil test. May adjust the N a bit depending on planting date conditions etc. More N tends to make more growth in the fall, too much and you can run into disease problems, etc. It looks to be an early fall so I would probably go toward the lower side around 20# of N. You really need to have a soil test to know what P & K to apply.
