Swift Current, Sask | We have gotten about 15% done. Yields are variable, especially with the peas. They are doing anywhere between 25-50 bu/ac so far. Alot has to do with seeding before/after snow in late Apr., some is from hail we received in July. Stuff that had hail is doing better than we could have hoped for, since the wheat beside it had 30% damage. Wheat is doing around 40. Some looked like it should do better than that, but some was on fresh breaking, so no complaints here. We haven't turned a wheel in nearly 10 days now, and have only combined 1.5 days in over 2 weeks now. It rains every day (4.5 inches in the 2 weeks we have been sitting). Water is running in the fields.
Yesterday was our first day in a week w/o rain, and we thought by Monday we could go on some barley, but a heavy shower came through in the evening and ruined that thought. Forecast doesn't look good either. Ah, but if farming was easy, everyone would do it right??
