Here is an update to an earlier post i made about seed slot not closing.
The first 5 pictures are from the area where the seed slot didn`t close after planting.
Pictures 2 and 3 show the ear that is representative of smaller ears in the area. The kernels from the ear weighed 116 grams. There wasn`t enough sample to do a moisture test so i mixed the kernels with the ones from the bigger ear, did some math and come up with 51% moisture. Pictures 4 and 5 show the larger ear, the kernels weighed 214.2 grams and tested 40% moisture. I took a stand count and came up with 15000 ears on 30 inch rows.
As i was heading to area where where the seed slot closed after planting i picked a ear in a area where the corn looked good the pictures of the ear are pictures 6 and 7. The kernels from the ear weighed 231 grams and tested 40% moisture. I am thinking it is the same hybrid as the ones in the earlier pictures(pic 2,3,4 and 5).
On to the area where where the seed slot closed. Pictures 8,9,10, 11 and 12 represent this area.
The kernels from the ear in pictures 9 and 10 weighed 247.3 grams and tested 35.39% moisture.
The kernels from the ear in pictures 11 and 12 weighed 220.8 grams and tested 35.74% moisture. It is possible that this is a different hybrid than the others.
This area showed an ear count of 23000 ears per acre.
Mixing the kernels from the two ears came up with a test weight of 51.5 lbs.
Since the moisture is so high i can`t say how accurate the readings are.
Near as i can tell the corn was planted on 5/21.
