My guess is you won't see a noticable difference unless you have sandy soil. I think the limiting factor is going to be how fast water will move through the soil and generally I don't think the water is going to move fast enough to fill the smaller line, it's not like a surface inlet that catches water within a few minutes of the rain falling.
