Subject: RE: Tile question

central - east central Minnesota -

tractordriver4320 - 9/11/2010 08:43 Ok I see what you guys are saying, build for the future. So how do you guys empty a tile line? Does it need to run into a ditch that is a few feet deep or do you gradually raise it to the surface? What kind of slope is common on a tile mainline?

My tile lines run into improved wetlands (water ponds - I dug out the wetland since there wasn't a good place for the water to outlet with out a pump). The ponds are nice looking and not in a middle of the field. One is on the end of the farm, by the ditch the other is in the middle of the farm on the property line. They both are the lowest spots (bowls) on my 80. I have enough fall that water level doesn't matter in the ponds (water is higher then the discharge pipe in one of the ponds). I also have a line going into a bowl that outlets into the road ditch.
