Well I'm pretty sure what Bruce is refering to is that first you tile what you think are the only wet spots in the field (low ground). Ok they're dry now then the areas beside(uphill) from the low ground seems wet now. Well they were always wet just not really wet compared to the low ground that you tiled right off the bat. This process repeat itself a few times until you have the field pattern tiled, or close to it! Hence the wet spot seems to move up the hill.
