Yes, it is unfortunate all those other folks are so wrong We have learned to live with this misinformation by those academically enlightened people who think a Horseweed (Ambrosia trifida) is a Giant Ragweed. And yes, there are other plants sometimes called a horseweed, including the delightful and entertaining Marestail. But none of them have the stature of a good old Wabash River bottom horseweed. The nice thing about horseweeds is you can always use them for firewood in a hard winter ... if you can find a chain saw sharp enough to cut them down. On a more serious note, one good thing about what we refer to as a horseweed is if you let it dry out it goes through the combine fairly well. You'll end up with a lot of seed in the grain tank, but they will go through the combine. And you are allowed 1% FM at the elevator anyway, so you do get paid a little for them.
