SW MN | United Soybean Board members do not receive a salary or financial compensation for their service, but they do get reimbursed for travel, hotel and food. They volunteer their time away from their own operations and family to try help better the situation. Definitely not perfect, and their check off is based on a percentage of value versus a fixed cost per bushel. If you don't like how it is ran, you need to get on the board to change it from the inside. In my neck of the woods, we have had several high profile soybean farmers, and I have had conversations with some of them over the years about what they do or don't do. They aren't doing it to get rich, I can tell you that. | |
