SE SD | Have had two homes with geo. First was built in the 60s and put in geo in 2012. Got along great. Only had 1 time that the emergency heat kicked in. Built a new house in 2023 and put geo in that also. Our geo runs floor heat in house, forced air heat and ac. Our geo is on a separate meter with a few other things, its a cheaper rate. Runs around 400 a year for that meter. 0 issues with the geo in the winter, i have 6 vertical loops that are 200' deep. First one we did horizontal trenches. That worked good, but was a ton of dirt to move. Ac in the summer, could hang meat in the house for pennies. I enjoy it and it has worked great for us. Heat isnt as warm as a propane or natural gas. The contractor that did ours mainly does geo, installs it in lots of shops and bigger industrial buildings. Both of our houses were done by the same waterfurnace contractor.
