Subject: RE: Home geothermal heat/ air conditioning

SW MN
I've had GEO system since 2001, It's still original. I only use it for heat and AC. Works Great for AC, But need Furnace backup when it get -10+ or or south wind. I have the bored in lines. It is a split system, uses refrigerant, Most do. Or all you do is pump in water in your home. Check locally what others have done and what works. Way back when, there were lots of companies that sold out again and again, My system is no longer mfg. Also ask about Electricity use, My electric bill avg. 325 month. Some day I'd like to put a meter on the GEO system to see what is uses. I also ran into boring problems, What ever is under ground at may location is almost rock hard!! (but not rock) They had major problems boring through it, but it leaves no mess.. Would I do it again? probably not. As I plan on building soon, and will have to look at the cost/vs ROI. Just like your doing.. If you go the Big hole and coil type unit make sure to add a drip line for those dry years.
Location: SW Minnesota, (NOT THE BLUE **** HOLES)
