Wisconsin | A big part of the installation cost is the wells or ground loop. A pump and dump system has it's own disadvantages, but is much cheaper up front. A ground loop is possible to DIY, especially for lots of farmers who have the equipment already. The unit is sealed like a window A/C, you're only hooking up the air, water and electric, no refrigerant work. I have no idea what your bids would be, so no idea if it's worth it, often isn't as the installed costs are ridiculous. For a new house, build it tighter and do air to air heat pump, or straight electric. | |
