Subject: RE: Home geothermal heat/ air conditioning

Cambridge, southwestern Nebraska
Have had geo for 30 years. Had to replace unit after 22 years.
Our temps can be well below zero to over 100. It keeps up both ways. Ours is a closed loop vertical well system. 4 wells 180’ deep. It does gave backup emergency heat that I maybe have used twice in 30 years.
I think a more efficient system might be a pump and dump if you don’t have to pull water from too deep. Water temp would be constant year around. Another thought I have had since installing mine was maybe I should have put the loops into the water table for better exchange of temperature? At the time they would have been considered wells but that wouldn’t have been a problem except for paper work. We stopped about 10’ above the water table.
I feel it has saved me money over the years.
My peak summer bills are similar to my peak winter bills.
