Western Ky.

In worked ground the CaseIH is better overall, but both will give good stands. In tough notill conditions, the CaseIH is a drastically better opener system. Narrower seed slot, leading edge openers, v shaped firming point to give better seed to soil contact in the bottom seed trench, RID gauge wheels to reduce sidewall compaction. And don't get me started on why in the world the engineers at Deere/Kinze are still tryin to push the gauge wheels.????
That said, the engineers at CaseIH can fumble the ball also. Witness the shoe thing (looks somewhat like the opener shoe on the old 56 planters) they replaced the the v firming point with on the newest planters.I expect some aftermarket company to come up with workaround to replace the that piece steel with the original v type firming point. I have not talked to a single farmer or CaseIH planter techninian who thinks that was a good upgrade.
