E.Central MN | When using a credit card, the user often pays a "convenience" charge. (Sometimes that convenience charge is integrated into the price everyone pays.) Some credit cards offer benefits besides the cash back such as consumer protection in case the purchase needs to be returned, protection from on-line scams that target your credit card, etc. The last thing I wanted to do when I went on vacation years ago was to carry a bunch of cash in case of an emergency. Anyone that has every had a car breakdown while out of town should appreciate the credit card industry. I've seen a few consumers that are so used to quick checkouts that they get a little testy when someone in the checkout line ahead of them stops to write a check or opens their coin purse and counts out the small change. Personally I think credit cards are a fantastic tool as long as consumers manage their finances properly. Watching some of the tv commercials it's pretty clear that there are a lot of money lenders still preying on people that can't manage their money even today. I wouldn't want to go back to the days before credit cards could be used almost anywhere. For one thing, many people can't count out change... | |
