I don't know much about a Deere 1770. I will probably get bashed for this...but we went from a Kinze row unit to the Case IH row unit and couldn't be happier. I won't be going back any time soon. The closing system is superior to the v wheels and I've never had any issues with the RID gauge wheels. The 1250 do take a bit of hydraulics to run but I don't feel like anymore than any other vac planter on the market. If you get one get a 2010 or newer it will have the updated mini hoppers that have the lid on them, they are way better than the old style. Or better yet put some v sets on it.
