Minnesota | First of all, the vSet meter is quite capable of very capable of nearly 99% (usually higher) singulation almost any seed size.....very small seed might have a few multiples and really big seed might get a few skips. The vac around 20 should get you there and not need much adjustment. There are parts on the meters that wear out and may need some adjustment -- vac seals, disc clearance, singulator wear, etc. There is a protocol to check these things. If you can't consistently run 99% or higher singulation, then you need to look for a problem with the meters.
Secondly, check the settings in your monitor to see what you have the tolerances set for acceptable as good spacing, etc. You might have it set for unrealistic levels.
We ran a 20/20 with row flow and OEM meters on a 1250 for 8 seasons and then changed to vDrive and Delta Force. I got all kinds of false readings on the 20/20 when I tried to run vSet meters and OEM seed tubes/sensors. The OEM seed tubes worked fine with the OEM meters, but not with the vSet meters. I can't remember what the errors were, but everything looked great when the corn came up even though the monitor said that it wasn't planting well. Changing to wave vision tubes the next year solved that. Now we have Speed Tubes.
What do you mean erratic readings on the Delta Force? If you are looking at the applied force, then you are going to see it bounce around row to row....sometimes quite a bit, depending on field conditions. The actual "downforce" reading should hold close to your target setting. If you planted with Field View....you can easily look at these parameters on your planting maps. Like someone else said, you problem may inconsistent planting conditions/moisture/etc. Delta Force is only automated downforce -- it can't fix inconsistent soil moisture/temp and it doesn't if you have downforce settings appropriate for your conditions. I have 2 load sensors fail (they are now 12+ years old)....but, then it just disables that row's load sensor and Delta Force runs on the average of the other rows.
