Seymour, IL | I have planted 15's for years... mostly for the shading effect on trying to keep weeds down
not alot of yield variation most years.
It has been my observation 20's took off because it was hard to get a toolbar bigger than 40 feet with 15's. but there are alot of 60 foot, 20 inch spacing bars out there. 36 units in 60 feet vs 31 in 40. I have read of some 48 unit 80 foot bars out there, but have never seen one in person.. I like my kinze, and units are spread out to work on. 20's make maintenance a bit easier on straight bars
I have dreams of upgrading my planter.... if I do I will go to a 60 foot, 20 inch spacing planter.
Minimal difference in shading, and a gain in planting pace
