Subject: Heifer not producing much milk

West Central Illinois
How long can it take them to come into milk? Calf started acting hungry on day 3 so I supplemented colostrum just in case though I think she got some st birth always seen her sucking, mouth was not cold and calf was very lively even on 48 degree mornings. Finally called vet friday and got oxytocin in her she gave me 3 doses and gave 2nd dose today. This is day 4 after calving she had a little milk at first but I cant get any out of her now. Bag looks great no swelling or anything teats feel normal just no milk. Locked her up in working pen nearby and was told keeping calf locked up in different pen adjacent helps since she'll bawl at the cow a good bit which can help I was told. I still let calf out a couple times a day so she can try sucking to see if she can get milk started.

Heifers in good condition and im feeding her good while I have separated giving fresh alfalfa but how likely is it at this point she comes into milk? I bought the 3 doses of oxytocin so I'll use them but at this point I'm guessing I got a bottle calf and a 2 yr old feeder heifer? Of all my heifers i kept wouldnt have thought this one would not produce milk the dam overproduces milk if anything and bull comes from a line of good bagged cows.
