Central MN | I get where you are coming from, and around here that's the way hay was made for years. And still is. I have my conditioning rolls tightened up but wouldn't hurt to look at that closer. In lighter crops I have adjusted my windrows so they are greater than half the width as I didn't see the need to run the tedder over it. I always end up with wet slugs that never dry because of wheel tracks, and if I set it so I can straddle the windrow, the bottom just stays damp. I have the discbine set to about as high as it can cut due to grass in the mix so it is able to be off the ground and get some airflow under it. Yes that tedder is another step and might cause other issues but it sure has made hay making slightly easier. | |
