Central Coast, California | I honestly think that most ulcer treatments are iffy. In fact even the diagnosis seems to not be very straight forward. After that most supplements are also questionable with many having very little in supporting clinical trials.
There is one drug Omeprazole??? That does treat ulcers and it is available in a weak formula non prescription and higher dose as prescription. It is not cheap. I think the last time I let my wife treat a suspected ulcer it was 600 bucks for two weeks of treatments.
There is another drug sucra...??? That we have given but I think it's off label and needs a prescription as well. Cant remember it as being much better.
All I will say is very few ulcer problems in ranch horses turned out on pasture vs stalled horses.
More hay and exercise get rid of or cut down grain, supplements and treats.
