Western Ontario | I believe you that it works there, we’re just 4 miles from lake Huron, when the wind sets up from the north west it’s got about 150 mile run over water with nothing to slow it down, then about a mile inland is a 300 foot bluff/hill and all that air has to get up the hill and essentially gets compressed and sped up. 20-30 mph winds literally every day all winter, even when it isn’t snowing the wind basically grinds snow on snow and drifts it everywhere. After about a string of 10 easy winters we’ve got punched in the mouth the last 2. We have a really good provincial highway that runs parallel to the lake that this year was closed for 5 straight days and last year a 7 day stretch…..it’s not that they don’t have the equipment either. Every area has its challenges, we don’t have to worry about wild fires and I have a hard time comprehending the drought challenges of Nebraska, Colorado, Montana, Kansas, North Dakota Texas etc. We always have spring grass and lots of first cut and genetics now have us growing corn and beans that would compete with a lot of areas of the midwest, we’re just about the same latitude as Huron south Dakota. If we could do it with less buildings we definitely would but for now I’ll keep spending too much on buildings and fuel to push and blow snow.
