Subject: RE: How dry?

La Salle, Colorado
Here we have one farm that is irrigated out of a lake. Lake didnt fer full so limited irrigation water available. Might get 2 or 3 runs of water. Will plant some forage sorghum and have alfalfa on it.
Second farm has direct water from river. Usually good water there but will be limited due to drought. Ditch is now split into 2 sections each gerting water about 2 days. Expect ditch will be split into 3 sections in late may definetly in june. Very limited water then. Irrigation well will cover alot of problems, but also limited by aygmentation plan. Wells get water from south platte alluvial flow. Sone wells i expect will start sucking air - pump not set deep enough or not drilled and cased deeper. 2002 that happened. Want to plant about 35 acres of corn for silage and forage sorghum to bale. Might end up not sprinkling something. Should have done that in 2012. We lined our irrigation pond this spring. Sandy soil. Hope lineing saves us water to put on fields. Lots of variables and not many options that will work.
