I'm needing to source 8 tanks soon for my EQIP project with NRCS, I'm on a well with about a mile of waterline on it so I'm opting to go with round stock tanks rather than frost free drinkers as my gallons per minute won't be adequate for summer grazing with the amount of cows I'll have on it. In the paperwork they gave me it just says "if steel tank must be 20 gauge steel or thicker and if plastic must be UV resistant plastic". Any brands I should look into or stay away from?
I use fiberglass—-round 10’ holds 1,000 gal, rectangular—-8 x —I think—14—holds 1400.
Nrcs wanted big enough for 2 days drinking——had 2 rectangular + 1 round on one well.
Made in great falls mt—Kustom city fiberglass
Gotta keep cattle hoofs outa them, same structure can keep them from blowing away in our winds, if empty.
Been in since ‘88, never a problem. About a $ a gallon then—-but they cost shared 80% and gave credit for labor and materials.’
I was on county committee then—-farmers were up to speed—-seldom saw cow outfits. Big drought—-I got on phone and called quite a few and asked them to tell others—- think we did 80 projects—
These can—and do—-freeze top to bottom—-never hurts anything—
