SC North Dakota | I signed up a section of pasture last year. Not sure if terms or payments differ across the country. But here, you could sign up for 10 or 15yr terms. ( not " forever") . Max payment in my county was 20$/acre. You then put in an "offer" for the payment and then based on a number of criteria, you could be accepted. This was tricky, because you could offer less money for a better chance of being accepted and you have no idea how many offers they are going to accept. After all that, I was told that I have pretty much no grazing restrictions, other than they don't want to see it grazed all season long, which in our case, it is rotational grazed anyway. So long way around it, I'll take a few free dollars for something that we were doing ourselves anyway. | |
