Hennepin, IL | Not saying this is any more efficient than what youre doing, but depending on if its free of trees and you dont want the wood posts mixed into the metal, Ive gone along and cut the fence free from the wood posts and leave the steel posts tied. You can go along pretty quick with a big set of bolt cutters and cut the staple itself, give it a twist to separate and the wire will fall out. Go along with a set of pallet forks or bale tines, or it youre good the teeth on a grapple or rock bucket and get under the wire at each post and pull the wire and post out of the ground at the same time then lay it on the ground. Once you have a decent stretch on the ground you can go along and roll it up and smash it flat as you go with the forks/bucket. On a long stretch you might have to cut every so often to keep the roll small enough to handle. This is woven wire, barb can be done the same way as long as the posts arent spaced real far but it is a little trickier. If its full of trees, youll liekly have go along and cut as much out of the fence as possible, but then Id just leave the wood posts tied, treat them like the steel posts, then burn the whole works. Also any steel posts that are good and youd want to save can be treated the same as the wood with the bolt cutter trick. | |
