Had a couple dipsticks tell me that our current farm situation "isnt anywhere close to the eighties"
You've got to be kidding! I wasn't old enough to farm in the 80's but my family was and lots of friends and neighbors were. Lots of equipment auctions that I'm sure brought pennies on the dollar. There was lots of land sold here for $800/ac. Factor in inflation and who wouldn't buy land for that price today? I saw a post on here within the last week or 2 that talked about land in Indiana (I think it was Indiana) that sold for $24k/ac!! Probably didn't have all the government checks in the mailbox either back then. There's lot of farmers complaining right now but none showing signs of hurting.
