I think the mentality of most farmers is worse now. The amount of back stabbing and greed for every little bit is horrible. From the old timers to the silver spooned brats, actually shocked at times how the old guys feel they cant get enough. Some guys that farmed back then even note that its worse. I wasn't even born in the 80s but know plenty that went through it. I even know myself on not having hardly a pot to piss in. Dads been good at inflicting 80s style situation on me. I get about half of the government handouts as most and still can be in the black. Not by much but there's profit. Keeping up with the neighbors with shiny new equipment and high priced land doesn't do it. I wonder how guys can keep doing what they are doing till i hear how they screw people over. But folks keep flocking back to those guys. I tend to get flustered especially lately with what is happening in Ag. Have to remember that its better to be honest and poor than what those other guys do as it will catch up with them. Might be when they are judged at death but it will catch up with them as it does with us all.
