You are spot on. Current situation is a walk in the park compared to what farming in the 1980s was like.
Anyone who thinks current is anywhere close to the 80's is either uniformed or an idiot. We actually put new parts on stuff now days. We bronzed, duck taped, patched, or just made do like it was back then.....for years.
And...a lot of the farms that I envied because they had things like...air-conditioning....aren't around today.
