China isn't our enemy, or, they didn't need to be. They're our competitor. And our Capitalist overlords just handed the game to them. 

There were probably a dozen ways we could have accomplished shoring up U.S. manufacturing. Tariff's won't do it. They never have. We alienated trade partners. Caused unneeded tensions. Caused distrust among allies. The whole things ridiculous. 

There were times they bought U.S. beans, and times they bought SA beans. If one was more competitive than the other, they'd buy those. Well, guess what. The balance got shifted, and WE shifted it. It wasn't a hair on fire problem until the Heritage Foundation Goons made it one.
