So when China bought 24 MMT or whatever it was in 2023, that was a "last resort?"   





Basically, yes.  

Take whatever China needs to import, subtract what is available from SA and that is what we “might” export to China.     Every year that SA expands and grows a bigger crop = less they need to buy from the US.  

And yes, that is how China has been doing business with the US for decades.  They are not our friends and they never were our friends.  “Free trade” with China was never a two way street.
