EC Nebraska | My thoughts on your question is that we would have to idle a lot of acres to do that. We would cease being competitive in the global markets, so goodbye exports.
That's a command economy, with all the inherent problems and loss of individual rights.
If we wanted to do it, perhaps the extra ground could be in pasture, and beef cattle would need to spend much less time in the feedlots.
You've got to deal with the massive overproduction somehow.
Or, we could simply cut the subsidy programs entirely, perhaps keep a basic level of subsidized insurance. 75% MPCI would work as long as it was enterprise only.
What we need from the govt is anti-trust enforcement, that, and dis-barring anyone working for the Sierra Club.
We don't need the govt trying to block market signals.
