| If China is able to continue not buying soybeans, which has been historically had the PNW being the main port from where China sourced its soybeans, would it not make sense to purchase a barge loader in Mississippi? The flow of soybeans to pnw has been halted. These soybeans will likely be shipped through the Mississippi River to find an export home. China has the ability to increase demand for Mississippi River traffic and potentially make money off the increased demand of barge loading.
A better signal of China buying would be purchase of PNW facilities at depressed prices. China then would have ownership if buying patterns change with a change in administration more favorable to trade | |
