| Numerous odd jobs- picking rocks , haying , firewood, mowing lawns for a few dollars for family and neighbors in the 70’s and 80’s . First steady job was 12 years old in 1980 for $10 / 10 hr day , went with neighbor to work in his hardware/ feed store 7-12 , home for lunch, 1-6 . If I went with his father or brother to their farm I got $3 / hr .
Went to work full time for neighbor on potato farm for $6 an hour after graduating in 87 . Bought a brand new leftover 86 F-150 for $10,700 . It was a barebones truck with a 300 cu in 6 cyl 4- speed manual transmission . I managed to negotiate an AM/FM cassette radio included with the deal, but they made me change it myself and they wanted the factory AM radio back . I put $1000 down on the truck, grandfather co-signed the loan . Payment was $269/ month for 5 years . Insurance was just over $100/ month . I sold it in 2000 , bought it back in 2009 with plans to restore it but it’s still sitting behind a neighbor mechanics shop .
