Scranton | My dad had a square baler. Us boys would go along even before we were big enough to be much help. He'd let us ride on the baler twine box, go explore the neighborhood, etc
One day before I was 10, they were baling this swamp area with heavy bales. The guy on the rack got sick so he put me on there. I did the best I could, but could only stack 4 high. I did probably 400 bales. (it was the beginning of a long youth of stacking racks)
We saw that hay owner a few weeks later at an auction. He made a big deal to all the guys in the circle of my work ethic and basically embarrassed me. They he made this big show of handing me money for stacking. $2. Two frickin' dollars. Even at that age I could recognize a cheapskate LOL | |
