I made 35 cents an hour babysitting for three kids. This was approximately 1973-1975. They did have Schwann's ice cream delivered in those big cardboard round containers, though, and I was welcome to help myself. My first dental assisting job was in 1983, and I think my pay was less than $4/hour.
