West of Mpls MN about 50 miles on Hwy 12 | Dad started me at $0.50/hour back in the mid 70s doing farm labor like picking rocks, shoveling pig ****, and running tractor doing field work. I was in fifth grade when he decided to start paying me...my hours were usually contested.
I started running the local canning company's sweet corn picker for $4.75/hour back in 1983...but I was usually on time and a half overtime by Wednesday night. Learned a lot about picking severely downed corn and where the breaking points of a New Idea Uni Harvester were when the rice/cane tires were installed when it got beyond muddy.
