CNY | I'm 40, so not as old as many on here. From 1997 until I went to college in 2003 my Dad paid me $150 a month for working on our dairy. That was, 2 hours every morning before school, at least 3 hours every day after school (more if planting or harvest), all day every Saturday and day off school, and got every other Sunday off (Uncle did chores every other Sunday). And of course all day every day in the summer. I'm not complaining, I paid for a couple different old junk pickups with that and actually bought a bunch of the tools I still use today. I realize many people weren't paid at all. I wouldn't have grown up any other way, I just can't imagine what I would have done with all that time other than goof off and get in trouble. I keep threatening my wife we need to get the pipeline fired back up and some heifers to calve so my 2 year old son will grow up to be worth a crap... | |
