Alpha, IA
Gleaner only offers steel for its heads according to the parts website. I am not happy about the aftermarket poly fingers myself because they only last about 200 acres. They are about 6 times cheaper than the steel ones from Gleaner. The solid steel ones in front of the feeder house would break off when using the feed reverser and you knew every time one broke off when it went through the rotor and chopper. I don't think it's probably worth the extra damage using the steel ones and next season I will try changing the timing of the fingers so they pull in a little sooner to see if that helps from wearing out the poly ones. Timing right now is almost as far as it can go without hitting the floor.
