"Back in the day" the steel fingers were solid without the groove cut in them. Most of the time the steel don't do much damage n because they break off inside the auger.

Do deere fingers not have a roll pin to keep broken fingers from leaving the auger? I only have experience with other brands but every finger that breaks just rides around inside the auger until the year is over or a rain day when I have time to fish it out
