Pittsburg, Kansas | That is funny. Weird enough as a kid we had one of the first color TV's in our immediate neighborhood, which was unusual as economically minded as my parents were. But if mom really wanted something............ Mom would have extended family and neighbors come over for Thanksgiving dinner and watch the Rose Bowl Parade which was one of the early TV shows that were in color. Most of the stuff was still B&W then as was our local station.
But what is more funny to me upon my second marriage in 1982 all the new wife and I had for a few years was a 12" black and white AC/DC tv that had came from her apartment. My divorce had left me cash strapped (to get out of one marriage) plus we were just working so long of hours we didn't have any time to watch TV anyway. So that little 12" TV sufficed for a few years to watch the 10 oclock news and weather basically for several years.
Now you can hardly give away a used TV even if it is working. New ones are so cheap relatively.
