Schlegel Farms, Hagerstown Indiana

I'm guessing you are a younger fellow, and didn't farm when guys threw a square-foot frame on the ground at variable spots behind the combine and counted kernels on the ground.

If there isn't more corn on the ground, there isn't more loss; it's the yield monitor.

According to AI:

AI Overview
Approximately 6 kernels of corn on the ground per square foot equates to a loss of 3 bushels per acre (BPA). This is based on the general rule of thumb that 2 kernels per square foot equals 1 BPA loss for average-sized kernels.

So, you need 60 kernels/square-foot for 30BPA ............................ that is very noticeable.
